Office Location, Operating Hours, and Numbers: The District of Columbia National Guard Youth Leaders' Camp, Inc. is located in the DC National Guard Armory, at 2001 East Capitol Street, S.E. Washington, D.C. 20003-1719 and is open from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The office phone number is (202) 685-9649 the fax number is (202) 685-9648.

99 students (boys and girls) ages 12 - 17 representing schools from within the DC Metropolitan area.

Services Provided:

 

  • Free 13-day residential summer camp, in which students learned and implemented the priniples of leadership, citizenship, and good sportsmanship through classroom discussions, competitive sports, and recreational activities.
  • 30 hours of classroom discussions in which participating students learned and defined what it means to be of Sound Moral Character.
  • 10 hours of group activities designed to help participating students know, care about, and act upon core ethical values such fairness, honesty, compassion, responsibility, and respect for self and others.
  • 25 hours of co-ed competitive sports and activities designed to instill and improve the cooperative and team building skills of participating students.
  • Students learned to live together in harmony and how to use teamwork to attain group objectives.
  • Parents/guardians of students were able to expose their children to a recreational and educational summer experience that added to their interpersonal growth and development.
  • The 42nd Annual DCNG Youth Leaders' Camp was conducted at Camp Dawson in Kingwood West Virginia, from 11-23 July 2009.
